1. Decide in favor of one type of protection.
2. Connect the device in accordance with the selected type of protection.
3. In order to avoid incorrect use at a later point, make the types of protection that are not used

positioner may be destroyed.
• Always use a high-impedance power source.
• Observe the static destruction limit specied in the "Technical specications (Page61)".
Note
Improvement of interference immunity
• Lay signal cables separate from cables with voltages > 60V.
• Use cables with twisted wires.
• Keep the device and the cables at a distance from strong electromagnetic elds.
• Observe the communication conditions described in the section Technical specications
(Page61).
• Use shielded cable to guarantee the full specication according to HART.
5.2 Grounding
The positioner is grounded via the mounting kit or via grounding with thread M4 on the
enclosure, ⑨ in the gure "Overview of the device components (Page7)".
