Why is my Stack ST8100 Monitor tachometer reading erratically?

  If the tachometer reading on your Stack Monitor is erratic, with the pointer jumping high or low, it could be due to incorrect wiring. Reconnect the tachometer as specified in this manual. Another cause could be a noisy signal from the ignition system or coil; try conditioning the ES signal by placing a resistor in line with the ES wire.

Why is the RPM reading on my Stack ST8100 inaccurate?

  If your Stack Monitor displays an RPM value that is too high or too low by a constant percentage, it could be that the system is configured with the wrong number of engine cylinders. Reconfigure the system to the correct number of cylinders. Another reason could be that the ignition system pulses per revolution are not the same as the number of cylinders; in that case, reconfigure the system to the correct number of pulses per revolution.
