12 Cleaning and Disinfection
12.1 Safety Information on Cleaning and Disinfection
Failure to follow this safety advice could result in considerable damage to the bed and the electri-
cal components and lead to subsequent malfunctions!
12.1.1 Before Starting Cleaning
The following points should be noted when cleaning electric beds:
x Before cleaning, operate the actuator motors until the minimum stroke length is reached. This
prevents degreasing of the spindle tubes.
x Ensure that all plugs for the actuator system are connected as prescribed.
x Lock the actuators using the handset and the locking box.
x Unplug the mains cable.
x Store the mains plug so that it does not come into excessive contact with cleaning solutions.
x Ensure that none of the electrical components show any signs of external damage. If these in-
structions are disregarded, water or cleaning agents may penetrate the system resulting in mal-
functions or damage.
12.1.2 After Cleaning
The following points should be noted when cleaning electric beds:
x Before operating the bed again, ensure that there is no residual moisture on the electrical con-
tacts by drying or blowing on the mains plug.
x If you suspect that water or cleaning solutions have penetrated into electrical components:
Unplug the bed immediately from the power socket and/or do not insert the mains plug into
the socket again.
Indicate clearly that the bed is “Out of order”. Take it out of service immediately and report
the incident to the operator of the bed without delay.
