Operation 4
Emergency operation
Towing off with operational steering
system
If the industrial truck's steering is still working
and the brake is released, the industrial truck
canbetowedeitherwitharopeorwiththetow
bar, as long as suitable lifting points can be
found for the tow bar.
The following must be taken into consideration
when doing so:
• When towing, never drive abo
ve creep
speed.
• Theremustalwaysbeadriverinthetowed
industrial truck
• Completely clear the danger area around
the towing and towed vehicle of any person-
nel.
• In order to avoid strong la
teral tension and
thus the risk of tilting, t
ake all corners as
wide as possible.
• The driver of the towing vehicle must use
particular foresight, respond in good time
and avoid sudden braking actions.
Towing off with steering system out of
action
If the steering has failed, the industrial truck
can be towed using equipment such as
steerable heavy-duty rollers. Depending
on the design, the heavy-duty rollers must
be placed underneath the drive wheel or
underneath the chassis. As the drive wheel
does not come into contact with the ground
when using this towing method, the brakes
can also no longer operate. Therefore, please
observe the safety information in the section
entitled "Brake emergency ventilation".
When attaching the truck in or
der for it to be
towed with the drive unit at th
e front, guide a
sling or rope that is of the app
ropriate length
and that has a sufficient load c
apacity through
the battery compartment and ove
r the battery.
When attaching the truck in order for it to be
towed with the fork at the front, loop a sling or
rope that is of the appropriate length and that
has a sufficient load capacity round the fork
carriage.
