STARTER CLUTCH
STARTER DRIVEN GEAR INSPECTION
• Turn the starter driven gear by hand.
• Inspect the starter clutch for a smooth movement.
• Check that the gear turns only in one direction.
• Inspect the starter driven gear bushing for any damage.
If necessary, replace it with a new one.
DISASSEMBLY
• Remove the starter clutch securing bolts.
• Remove the one way clutch
1 and guide
2 from the genera-
tor rotor.
REASSEMBLY
• Install the starter clutch in the proper direction.
NOTE:
When installing the one way clutch to the guide, face the flange
side
A of the one way clutch to the rotor.
• Apply engine oil to the starter clutch.
