(9) Install the spring, adjuster, adjuster spring
and adjuster lever, paying attention to the
following items:
① Install the adjuster in such a way that the
left screw is used for the left brake, and that
the right screw is used for the right brake.
② Install the adjuster so that its teeth do not
make contact with the spring.
③ Install the return spring at the adjuster side,
with its longer hook attached to the adjuster
lever side.
④ After reassembling, check that the tip of the adjuster lever comes in contact with the adjuster
teeth.
(10) Install the brake pipe on the wheel cylinder.
(11) Measure the inner diameter of the brake
drum and the outer diameter of the shoe.
Adjust the adjuster so that the outer
diameter of the brake shoe is “the inner
diameter – 1.0 mm [0.0394 in.]”.
(8) Install the shoe guide pin in the anchor pin,
and install the shoe return spring.
In this step, install the spring at rst on the
primary side and then on the secondary
side.
