36 Preventing Pro:Idiom Key Loss
There are two mechanisms which may cause Pro:Idiom key loss in some commercial television
sets.
Unapproved mapping or remapping of PIDs
If external video sources are using a PID location common the Pro:Idiom PID in DIRECTV
channels the TV may loose its ability to decrypt Pro:Idiom channels.
High quality Edge QAM modulator with relocate the Pro:Idiom key PID to a protected range
Separate off air and external video sources from Pro:Idiom channels.
37 Simultaneous QAM and Multicast IP Output
(Currently under development and testing as of May 2018)
The COM3000 system is capable of outputting both IP and QAM signals simultaneously. There
are certain limitations to sending programming from a COM51 to a multicast address and the
QAM20 simultaneously.
In order to accomplish both IP streaming and RF QAM output there are two options. In both
cases you must use an IP and port configuration compatible with the QAM20 alternate IP.
Use a different IP address for each program and a common port assignment. This option is
recommended as some TVs require port numbers >5000.
Example:
QAM will need an alternate IP of 239.X.0.0 and will route the stream to an output channel via
the last octet of the IP address. The last octet must match the port assignments on the QAM20.
239.0.0.17:5001 = QAM 1 port 17
239.0.0.18:5001 = QAM 1 port 18
239.0.0.19:5001 = QAM 1 port 19
239.1.0.17:5001 = QAM 2 port 17 (Second QAM would need alternate IP of 239.1.0.0)
In this scenario each card streams to the same IP with a different port assignment for each
channel
Example:
Multicast address 239.0.0.10:17. Enter an alternate address 239.0.0.10 in the QAM20. QAM
will look for streams by port number on the 239.0.0.10 network.
If the above example is used you would send programming to your IP network on 239.0.0.10:17
and to the QAM20 to output RF ch 23-1.
239.0.0.10:17 = ch 23-1
239.0.0.10:18 = ch 23-2
239.0.0.10:19 = ch 23-3
