Application Examples
Looking at a Noisy Signal
The signal appears noisy and y ou suspect that noise is causing problems
in your circuit. To better analyze the noise, follow these steps:
1. Push th e Acquire Menu button.
2. Push the Mode bottom button.
3. Select the Peak Detect acquisitio n m od e.
4. Increase the Waveform Intensity control to see the noise more
easily.
Peak detect emphasizes noise spikes and glitches in your signal as
narrow as 1 ns, even when the time b ase is set to a slow setting.

Separating the Signal from N oise
Now you want to analyze the signal shape and ignore the noise. To
reduce random noise in the oscilloscope display, follow these steps:
1. Push th e Acquire Menu button.
2. Push the Mode bottom button.
3. Select the Average acquisition mode.
