Components under the seat will be
hot if the spray er has been r unning . If
y ou touch hot components y ou may be
bur ned.
Allo w the spray er to cool bef or e
perf or ming maintenance or touching
components under the hood.
4. Place a pan belo w the oil drain.
5. R emo v e the drain plug ( Figure 50 ).

6. W hen the oil has drained completely , re place
the drain plug and tor que it to 10 ft-lb (13.6
N m).
7. Dispose of the used oil at a cer tified recycling
center .
8. Slo wly pour appro ximately 80% of the
specified amount of oil into the oil filler tube
( Figure 49 ).
9. Chec k the oil lev el.
10. Slo wly add additional oil to bring the oil lev el
to the full mark on the dipstic k.
Important: Ov erfilling the crankcase
with oil may cause engine dama ge.
Changing the Engine Oil Filter
1. Drain the oil from the engine; refer to
Changing the Engine Oil.
2. R emo v e the oil filter ( Figure 51 ).

3. Wipe the filter adapter g ask et surface .
4. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the r ubber
g ask et on the re placement filter .
5. Install the re placement oil filter to the filter
adapter . T ur n the oil filter cloc kwise until
the r ubber g ask et contacts the filter adapter ,
then tighten the filter an additional 1/2 tur n
( Figure 51 ).
6. Fill the crankcase with the cor rect type of new
oil; refer to Changing the Engine Oil, ste ps 8
through 10 .
7. Dispose of the used oil filter at a cer tified
recycling center .
Changing the Spark Plugs
Chang e the spark plugs after ev er y 200 operating
hours . Mak e sure the air g ap betw een the center
and side electrodes is cor rect before installing the
spark plugs . Use a spark plug wrenc h for remo ving
and installing the spark plugs and a g apping
tool/feeler g aug e to c hec k and adjust the air g ap .
T ype: Champion R C-12Y C (or equi v alent) Air
Gap: 0.030 inc h (0.76 mm)
Removing the Spark Plug
1. Set the parking brak e , stop the pump , stop the
engine , and remo v e the ignition k ey .
2. R elease the latc h on the bac k of the seat and
lift the seat forw ard.
3. Pull the wires off the spark plugs ( Figure 52 ).
