7. Connect the hose on the front of the tank
( Figure 57 ).
Inspecting the Wheels/Tires
Chec k the wheels to ensure that they are mounted
securely after the first 8 operating hours and then
ev er y 100 hours thereafter . T or que the front bolts
to 50-55 ft-lb (68-74 N m) and the rear lug n uts to
40-60 ft-lb (54-81 N m).
Chec k the tire condition at least ev er y 100 hours
of operation. Operating accidents , suc h as hitting
curbs , can damag e a tire or rim and also disr upt
wheel alignment, so inspect tire condition after an
accident.
Adjusting the Front Wheel
Toe-In
Chec k the front wheel toe-in after ev er y
100 operating hours , or ann ually , whic hev er occurs
first. T he toe-in should be 0 to 1/4 inc h (0 to
6 mm).
1. Fill the tank with appro ximately 80 US g allons
(303 L) of w ater .
2. Chec k and fill all tires; refer to Chec king Tire
Pressure .
3. Dri v e the spra yer bac k and for th a few times
to relax the A-ar ms , then dri v e it forw ard at
least 10 ft (3 m).
4. Measure the distance betw een both of the
front tires at the axle height at both the front
and rear of the front tires ( Figure 60 ). A fixture
or alignment g aug e is needed for the rear
measurement of the front tires at axle height.
Use the same fixture or alignment g aug e to
accurately measure the front of the front tires
at axle height ( Figure 60 ).
T he front of the tires should be 0 to 1/4 inc h
(0 to 6 mm) closer than the bac k side of the
front tires .

5. If the measurement does not fall within the
specified rang e , loosen the jam n uts at both
ends of the tie rods ( Figure 61 ).

6. R otate both tie rods to mo v e the front of the
tire inw ard or outw ard.
Note: T he tie rods should be the same length
when y ou are finished.
7. Tighten the tie rod jam n uts when the
adjustment is cor rect.
8. Ensure that there is full tra v el of the steering
wheel in both directions .
