CAUTION
Ifyouleavethekeyintheignitionswitch,
someonecouldaccidentlystarttheengine
andseriouslyinjureyouorotherbystanders.
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,fully
raiseandlatchthehandlebartoengagethe
parkingbrake,shutofftheengine,removethe
key,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
Important:Thefastenersonthecoversofthis
machinearedesignedtoremainonthecover
afterremoval.Loosenallthefastenersoneach
coverafewturnssothatthecoverisloosebut
stillattached,thengobackandloosenthem
untilthecovercomesfree.Thispreventsyou
fromaccidentallystrippingtheboltsfreeofthe
retainers.
PreparingtheMachinefor
Maintenance
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Fullyraiseandlatchthehandlebartoengage
theparkingbrake;refertoEngagingParking
Brake(page39).
3.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeleavingthe
machine;refertoShuttingOfftheEngine(page
40).
4.Allowthemachinetocool.
LiftingtheMachine
CAUTION
Ifthemachineisnotproperlysupportedby
blocksorjackstands,themachinemaymove
orfall,whichmayresultinpersonalinjury.
•Whenchangingattachments,tires,or
performingotherservice,usethecorrect
blocks,hoists,andjacks.
•Makesurethatthemachineisparkedon
asolid,levelsurfacesuchasaconcrete
oor.
•Priortoraisingthemachine,removeany
attachmentsthatmayinterferewiththe
safeandproperraisingofthemachine.
•Alwayschockorblockwheels.Usejack
standsorsolidwoodblockstosupportthe
raisedmachine.
JackingtheFrontEnd
1.Preparethemachineformaintenance;referto
PreparingtheMachineforMaintenance(page
65).
2.Chockthereartirestopreventthemachinefrom
moving.
Important:Topreventwheelmotordamage,
donotusethefrontwheelmotorasajacking
point.
3.Positionthejacksecurelyunderthefront
wheel-supportarm(Figure137).
