materialsorworkmanship.Themostcommon
reasonforfailureismoistureandcontamination
workingitswaypasttheprotectiveseals.
Bearingsthataregreasedrelyuponregular
maintenancetopurgeharmfuldebrisfromthe
bearingarea.Sealedbearingsrelyonaninitial
llofspecialgreaseandarobustintegralsealto
keepcontaminantsandmoistureoutoftherolling
elements.
Thesealedbearingsrequirenolubricationorshort
termmaintenance.Thisminimizesroutineservice
requiredandreducesthepotentialofturfdamage
duetogreasecontamination.Thesesealedbearing
packagesprovidegoodperformanceandlifeunder
normaluse,butperiodicinspectionsofbearing
conditionandsealintegrityshouldbeconductedto
avoiddowntime.Inspectthebearingsseasonally
andreplacethemiftheyaredamagedorworn.
Bearingsshouldoperatesmoothlywithnodetrimental
characteristicssuchashighheat,noise,looseness,
orrustweeping.
Duetotheoperatingconditionsthesebearing/seal
packagesaresubjectto(e.g.,sand,turfchemicals,
water,impacts,etc.)theyareconsiderednormalwear
items.Bearingsthatfailduetocausesotherthan
defectsinmaterialsorworkmanshiparetypicallynot
coveredunderwarranty.
Note:Youcannegativelyaffectbearingbyusing
improperwashdownprocedures.Donotwashdown
themachinewhenitisstillhotandavoiddirecting
high-pressureorhighvolumesprayatthebearings.
Itiscommonfornewbearingstopurgesomegrease
outthesealsonanewmachine.Thispurgedgrease
turnsblackincolorduetocollectionofdebrisandnot
duetoexcessiveheat.Itisgoodpracticetowipethis
excessgreasefromthesealsaftertheinitial8hours.
Theremayalwaysappeartobeawetareaaround
theseallip.Thisisnotdetrimentaltobearinglife,and
keepsthesealliplubricated.
