Wiring of Serial Bus Cable
Weak signals are sent through the serial bus cable (twisted pair cable with shield). The following
is the desirable order for the wiring route. Try to use the route 1 which is specifically for the
serial bus when possible.
1)
Use the route specifically for the serial bus.
2)
Use the route specifically for the system.
3)
Use the route specifically for the general instrumentation.
4)
Use shield ducts.
The specifications for the twisted pair cable with shield are listed in Table 2.6.

Cautions on wiring the serial bus
When wiring the serial bus, be careful with the following.
•
The wiring should be done inside the same cabinet or between the neighboring cabinets. The
total length should be within 30 meters.
•
As a general rule, the wiring should be one straight line which starts with the controller without
any branch.
•
When the cable is bent, comply with the minimum allowable bending radius (Table 2.6).
Cautions for extending the serial bus for system expansion
When installing the additional serial PI/O system, be careful with the following.
•
The total wiring length of the serial bus should be within 30 meters.
•
When wiring outside of the cabinet for an unavoidable reason, comply with the cautions for
exterior wiring.
•
When installing the additional communication base unit, the maximum allowable number of
units to be connected is 15.
