Move seat
fully back
D Aforwardfaci ng child restr aint sys-
tem should be al lowed to be
instal led on the f ront passenger
seat only when i t is unavoidabl e.
Always move the seat as far back
as possible, because t he front pas-
senger air bag could infl ate with
considerabl e speed and force.
Otherwise, the child may be killed
or seriously injured.
D On vehicles with side airbags and
curtai n shi eld airbags, do not allow
the chi ld t o lean his/her head or
any par t of hi s/her body against the
door or the area of t he seat, fr ont
or center and roof side garnish
from which the side ai rbags or cur-
tain shield air bags deploy even if
the chi ld i s seated in the child r e-
strain t syst em. I t i s danger ous if
the side airbag and/or curtain shield
airbag inflat e, and the impact could
cause death or seri ous injur y t o the
child.
D After i nserting the tab, make sure
the t ab and buckle are locked and
that the l ap and shoul der por tions
of the belt are not twisted.
D Do not insert coins, cli ps, etc. in
the buckle as this m ay prevent your
child from pr operly lat ching t he tab
and buckle.
D If the seat belt does not funct ion
normally, it cannot protect your
child fr om death or ser ious inj ury.
Contact any authoriz ed Toyota
dealer or repair er, or another duly
qualifi ed and equipped prof essional,
immediatel y. Do not inst all the child
restr aint syst em on the seat until
the seat belt is f ixed.
