To def og or def rost t he rear window,
push the switch.
Vehicles without s mart entr y and start sy s-
tem—The engine swi tch must be s et at
the “ON” posit ion.
Vehicles with smar t entr y and star t sys-
tem—The “ENGINE START STOP” swit ch
must be set at IGNITIO N ON m ode.
The thin heater wi res on the ins ide of the
rear window will qui ckl y clear the window
surface. An indicator light will illuminate to
indic ate the defogger is operat ing.
The heater panels in the out side rear view
mirror s wi ll al so quic kly clear the sur-
faces.
Push the switc h once again to t urn t he
defoggers off .
On some models, the system will automat-
ical ly shut off af ter the defogger s have
operated about 15 minutes.
CAUTION
Since the mirr or surfaces can get hot ,
do not touch them when t he swi tch
is on.
Make s ure y ou tur n the defoggers off
when t he surfac es are c lear. Leavi ng the
defoggers on for a long time could cause
the bat tery to di schar ge, es peci ally during
stop−and−go dr ivi ng. The defoggers ar e
not des igned for dry ing rai n water or for
melting snow.
If the outside rear v iew mirror s are heavi-
ly coat ed wi th i ce, use a s pray de−icer
before operat ing the switc h.
