REAR DOOR CHI LD−PROTECTORS
The door cannot be opened f rom inside
the vehicle when the lock is set.

These loc ks can be s et to prevent chil-
dren from opening the rear door s.
Push down on eac h rear door swit ch to
lock bot h rear doors.
CAUTION
D Before driving, be sure that the
doors are closed.
D When small childr en ar e on t he rear
seats of the vehicle, the chi ld−pro-
tector syst em should be used to
help prevent t he doors fr om bei ng
opened uni ntentional ly f rom the i n-
side during drivi ng.
D If the doors are left unlocked while
driving, t hey can be easi ly opened
from t he outside i n case of an acci-
dent.
CAUTION
Keep the back door closed whi le dri v-
ing. If the back door is l eft open, it
may hit near −by objects while driving
or luggage may be unexpectedl y
thrown out, causing an accident . I n
addition, exhaust gases may enter the
vehicle, causi ng death or a serious
health haz ard. Make sur e to close t he
back door before driving.
Before driving the vehicle, make sure
that t he back door is ful ly closed. If
the back door is not fully closed, it
may open unexpectedly while driving,
causing an accident.
Never l et anyone si t in the luggage
compartment . In the event of sudden
braking or a collision, they are sus-
ceptibl e to death or serious injury.
When children are in the vehicle, ob-
serve the foll owing pr ecautions. Fail-
ure to do so may resul t in deat h or
serious injury:
D Do not leave chil dren alone in the
luggage compartment . If a child is
accidental ly locked in the luggage
compartment , t hey could over heat.
D Do not allow a child to open or
close the back door. Doing so may
cause the back door to oper ate un-
expectedly, or cause th e chil d’s
hands, head, or neck to be caught
by the closing back door.
