Look at t he see−t hrough coolant r eser-
voir when the engine is cold. The cool-
ant level i s satisfact ory if it i s bet ween
the “ FULL” and “LOW ” li nes on the
reservoi r. If the level i s low, add the
coolant. ( For the coolant t ype, see
“Coolant t ype sel ection” descr ibed be-
low.)
The coolant level i n the r eserv oir will v ary
with engine temper ature. Howev er, if t he
level is bel ow the “LOW” line, add cool-
ant. Br ing the lev el between t he “FULL”
and “LOW” lines .
If t he coolant level dr ops within a shor t
time after replenis hing, there may be a
leak in the system. Visually check the
radiat or, hoses , coolant reser voir cap and
drain coc k and water pump.
If y ou can fi nd no leak , hav e any aut ho-
riz ed Toyot a dealer or repairer, or anot her
duly quali fied and equipped pr ofess ional,
test the cap press ure and c heck f or leaks
in the cooling system.
CAUTION
To prevent burning your self, do not
remove t he coolant r eservoir cap
when the engine i s hot.
Coolant type selecti on
Use of i mproper coolant s may damage
your engi ne cooli ng system.
Only use “Toyota Super Long Life Coolant”
or si milar high quali ty et hylene gly col
based non−silicate, non−amine, non−nitr ite,
and non−bor ate c oolant with l ong−life
hybri d or ganic aci d technol ogy. (Coolant
with l ong−lif e hybrid or ganic ac id
technol ogy is a c ombination of low
phosphates and organic aci ds.)
“Toyot a Super Long Li fe Coolant ” is a mi x-
ture of 50% coolant and 50% deioni zed
water. This c oolant prov ides prot ection
down to about −35_C(−31_F).
NOTICE
Do not use pl ain water alone.
