The wi reless remote cont rol function is
designed to lock or unl ock all t he si de
doors and back door from a distance
within approximately 1 m (3 ft.) of the
vehicle.
When you operat e any swi tch, push it
slowly and securely.
Vehicles with smar t entr y and star t sys-
tem—When the s witch i s oper ated, the
indic ator light fl ashes once. If not, t he
batter y may be disc harged. Replace the
batter y at the earlies t opportuni ty.
The wir eless r emote contr ol k ey or elec-
troni c key is an elec troni c component. Ob-
serv e the followi ng inst ruct ions in order
not to cause damage the key.
D Do not leav e the key in plac es where
the t emperature becomes high s uch as
on the dashboard.
D Do not disass emble it.
D Avoid knock ing it har d agains t other
object s or dropping it.
D Avoid putti ng it in water.
You c an use up to 3 key s ( vehic les
without s mart entry and s tart system) or 5
keys ( vehic les wit h s mart entr y and star t
system) for the same vehicle. Contact any
authori zed Toyot a dealer or r epairer, or
another dul y qual ified and equipped
profes sional , for detai led inf ormation.
If the key does not actuat e the s ide doors
and bac k door, or operate from a nor mal
dist ance, or the indic ator on the k ey is
dimmed or does not c ome on (v ehicles
with smart entry and start system only):
D Check f or cl oseness to a radi o t rans-
mitter suc h as a radi o stat ion or an
airpor t whi ch can i nterfer e wi th normal
operati on of the key.
D The batt ery may hav e been consumed.
Check t he batter y i n the key. To
replac e the battery, s ee “—Replac ing
batter y” on page 37 or 40 in thi s
Secti on.
If you lose your k ey, c ontact any aut ho-
riz ed Toyot a dealer or repairer, or anot her
duly quali fied and equipped pr ofess ional,
as soon as pos sibl e to avoid t he pos sibi l-
ity of theft, or an acc ident. (See “ If y ou
lose your k eys” on page 482 in Section
4.)
