IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY
If you cannot shift the shift lever out
of “ P” posit ion t o other posi tions even
though the brake pedal is depressed,
use the shift lock overr ide but ton as
follows:
1. Make sure t he engine swit ch (ve-
hicles without smart entr y and star t
system) or t he “ENGI NE START
STOP” switch ( vehicles with smart
entry and st art system) is off and
the parking brake is applied.
2. Push the shif t lock overr ide button.
You can shift out of “P” positi on
only while pushing the button.
3. Shif t into “N” posit ion.
4. Star t the engine. For your saf ety,
keep the brake pedal depressed.
Be sure to have the system checked by
any aut horiz ed Toy ota deal er or repair er,
or another duly qual ifi ed and equipped
profes sional , as soon as possi ble.
You can purchase a new key at any
authori zed Toyota dealer or repair er, or
another duly qualifi ed and equipped
professi onal, if you can give them t he
key number and mast er key.
Vehicles without s mart entr y and start sy s-
tem—Even if you l ose only one k ey, c on-
tact any author ized Toy ota dealer or r e-
pairer, or another duly quali fied and
equipped profess ional, to mak e a new key.
If you lose all your master keys, you can-
not make new key s; t he whole engine im-
mobilizer system must be replaced.
Vehicles with smar t entr y and star t sys-
tem—If y ou los e any of y our keys , cont act
any aut horiz ed Toy ota deal er or repair er,
or another duly qual ifi ed and equipped
profes sional to hav e new k eys made. Los t
keys inc rease the danger of vehi cle thef t.
Bring all of the remai ning v ehicle keys
when you vis it any authori zed Toyota deal-
er or repai rer, or anot her dul y qualifi ed
and equipped profess ional.

by new key, if the systems are equi pped
with your vehicl e. Contact any aut horiz ed
Toyota deal er or repai rer, or anot her duly
qualifi ed and equipped profes sional , for
detailed inf ormation.
If your key s are lock ed in the vehic le and
you cannot get a dupli cate, many aut ho-
riz ed Toyota deal ers, repair ers or other
duly qualifi ed and equipped prof essi onals
can st ill open the door f or you, using their
speci al tools . If y ou must br eak a window
to get i n, we s uggest br eaking the sm all-
est side window bec ause it i s the l east
expensi ve to replace. Be extremel y cau-
tious t o avoid cuts f rom the glass .
