ENGINE (IGNITI ON) SWITCH, TRANSMISSI ON AND PARKING BRAKE
Vehicles with smar t entr y and star t sys-
tem—The VSC OFF indi cator l ight comes
on for a few seconds when the “ ENGINE
START STOP” switc h i s in IGNITI ON ON
mode. If the indi cator light does not c ome
on when the “ENGI NE START STOP”
swit ch is i n IGNITION ON mode, contact
any aut horiz ed Toy ota deal er or repair er,
or another duly qual ifi ed and equipped
profes sional .
If the traction control and VSC+ systems
are turned off, the systems will not turn
on even when v ehicl e speed increas es.
CAUTION
Do not drive with t he VSC+ system
continuously tur ned off.
The downhil l assi st cont rol system as-
sists the deceler ation of the engine
brake when you drive down a steep hill.
When you are driving down a hill,
pushing the “ DAC” switch turns on the
system. I f the vehicl e is t raveli ng at a
speed of 25 km/h ( 15 m ph) or less, you
can descend at a constant speed.
CAUTION
Do not rely excessivel y on the down-
hill assist cont rol system. It may not
be able to maintai n a low speed over
road surfaces or of f−road surfaces on
which sli ding can easil y occur, such
as extremely steep slopes or icy or
muddy roads.
