CORROSION PREVENTION AND APPEARANCE CARE
Touch−up pai nt
Touch−up paint may be used to cover
small chips or scratches.
Apply the paint soon after the damage
occurs or corrosion may set in. To do a
good job, use a s mall artis t’s br ush and
stir the paint well. Make sure the area is
clean and dry. To apply the touc h−up paint
so it is hardl y not iceabl e, the tri ck is to
apply it onl y t o the bare s pots. Apply only
the smal lest amount poss ible and do not
paint t he surf ace around t he scr atch or
chip.
CAUTION
D Do not splash or spill liquid in the
vehicle. Doing so may cause electri-
cal components etc. to malf unction
or catch fir e.
D When cleanin g t he i nteri or (espe-
cially instrument panel), do not use
polish wax or pol ish cleaner. The
instr ument panel m ay refl ect of f the
windshield, obstr ucting the driver ’s
view and leading t o an accident,
result ing in d eath or ser ious i njury.
D Vehicles with side ai rbags and cur-
tain shield air bags:
Be caref ul not t o splash water or
spill l iquid on the floor. This may
prevent the side airbag and curtai n
shield airbag fr om act ivating cor-
rectly, resulting in serious injury.
NOTICE
z Do not wash the vehi cle floor wi th
water, or allow water to get onto
the fl oor when cleaning the vehi cle
inter ior or exteri or. Water may get
into audio components or other
electr ical component s above or un-
der the floor carpet ( or mat) and
cause a malfu nction; and it may
cause body cor rosion.
z When cleaning the i nterior, do not
use pol ish wax or poli sh cleaner.
The instr ument panel’s or other in-
teri or par t’s painted surf ace may be
damaged.
