If the “ Check 4×4 system” message
appears and the mast er warning light
remains on...
This indicates that the system may not
work properl y. Cont act any aut horiz ed
Toyota dealer or repairer, or duly qual ifi ed
and equi pped pr ofess ional to serv ice your
vehic le.
The tract ion control syst em automatical-
ly helps prevent the spinning of t he
drive wheels when the vehicle is start ed
or accelerated on slippery road sur-
faces.
Vehicles without s mart entr y and start sy s-
tem—When the engine s witc h is tur ned to
the “ON” position, the system automatical-
ly tur ns on.
Vehicles with smar t entr y and star t sys-
tem—When the “ENGI NE START STOP”
switc h is in IGNI TION ON mode, the sys-
tem automati cally t urns on.
CAUTION
Under cert ain slipper y road condi-
tions, full t ractio n of the vehicl e and
power t o the drive wheels cannot be
maintained, even t hough the tr action
control syst em is in oper ation. Do not
drive the vehicle under any speed or
maneuvering conditions whi ch may
cause the vehicle t o lose t racti on
control . If t he road surf ace is covered
with ice or snow, your vehicle should
be fitted with snow tires or tire
chains. Always dri ve at a speed t hat
is appr opriat e for the pr esent road
conditions.
