If your engine knocks...
If y ou det ect heav y knoc king even when
using the r ecommended f uel, or if y ou
hear st eady knoc king while hol ding a
steady speed on lev el roads , c onsult any
authori zed Toyot a dealer or r epairer, or
another duly qual ifi ed and equipped pro-
fess ional.
However, oc casi onally, y ou may notice
light knock ing for a s hort t ime while ac cel-
erating or driving up hills. This is normal
and there is no need for concer n.

z Do not use improper f uels. I f im-
proper f uels are used t he engine
will be damaged.
z 2AD−FTV (without DPF catalyti c
converter ) engine— Do not use a
fuel that contains more t han 500
ppm of sulfur. Use of such a hi gh
sulfur f uel may damage the engine.
z 2AD−FTV (wi th DPF catalyt ic con-
verter ) and 2AD−FHV engines— Do
not use a fuel t hat contains more
than 50 ppm of sulf ur. Use of such
a high sulf ur fuel m ay damage t he
engine.
z EU area: FAME ( Fatty Acid Methyl
Ester) fuel sold under names such
as “B30” or “ B100” and fuel
containing a large amount of FAME
should not be used. The use of
these fuels will damage the ve-
hicle’s f uel system. In case of any
doubt, ask any authoriz ed Toyota
dealer or repai rer, or anot her duly
qualifi ed and equi pped p rofessional .
