light
Vehicles without s mart entr y and start sy s-
tem—The li ght comes on when the engi ne
switch is in the “ON” position. If the elec-
tric power steering system works properly,
the light tur ns off after the engine is
star ted, or af ter a few s econds. If the
system has malfunctions, the light comes
on again.
Vehicles with smart entry and st art
system—The light comes on when the
“ENGINE START STOP” s witch is i n
IGNITION ON mode. If t he elec tric power
steering system works properly, t he light
turns off after the engine is star ted, or
after a few sec onds. I f the system has
malfunc tions, the light comes on again.
If t he followi ng conditions occur, t his
indicates a malf unction somewhere in
the components monit ored by the warn-
ing l ight syst em. Cont act any autho-
riz ed Toyota dealer or r epairer, or
another duly qualifi ed and equipped
professi onal, as soon as possibl e t o
service the vehicl e.
D Vehicl es wit hout smar t entr y and star t
system—The light does not come on
when the engine swit ch is s et at the
“ON” posi tion or remains on.
Vehicles wi th smart entr y and star t
system—The light does not come on
when t he “ENGINE START STOP”
switch is set at IGNITION ON mode or
remains on.
D The light stay s on while y ou are driv-
ing.
CAUTION
If the el ectric power st eering system
warning light comes on, take your ve-
hicle t o any authori zed Toyota dealer
or repairer, or anot her duly quali fied
and equi pped professional , as soon
as possi ble. I n t his case, more effor t
is requir ed for t he steeri ng wheel to
turn than usual. Drive your vehicle
while firmly gripping the steering
wheel.
