OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
1. SEAT POSITION, SEAT CUSHI ON
ANGLE AND SEAT HEIGHT ADJUST-
ING SWITCH
Move the control switch i n the desi red
direct ion.
Releasi ng the sw itch wil l s top t he s eat at
that posi tion.
Do not plac e any thing under the front
seats , as t his might int erfer e wit h the s eat
movement.
2. SEATBACK ANGLE ADJUSTING
SWITCH
Move the control switch i n the desi red
direct ion.
Releasi ng t he s witc h will stop the seat-
back at that pos iti on.
CAUTION
Avoid r eclining the seatback any
more than needed. The seat belts pro-
vide maximum prot ection in a front al
or rear collision when the driver and
the f ront passenger are sit ting up
strai ght and wel l back in t he seats. I f
you are recli ned, the l ap bel t m ay
slide past your hips and apply re-
strain t for ces direct ly to t he abdomen
or your neck may contact the shoul-
der belt . I n t he event of a f rontal
collision, the more the seat is r e-
clined, the greater the risk of death
or serious injur y.
3. SEAT LUMBAR SUPPORT
ADJUSTING SWITCH
Push the cont rol swi tch on ei ther side.
The amount of lumbar support will c hange
while the swit ch is pushed.
Active head r estraint s are designed to
help r educe the risk of whiplash on the
seat occupant by movi ng sl ightly for-
ward and upward when the occupant’s
lower back pr esses agai nst the
seatback during a rearend collision.
