2.9.2 Target Location Estimator (TLE)
The TLE function of SkyLink is meant to provide an improved estimate of the coordinates the
gimbal is looking at. The TLE filter assumes the gimbal is continually looking at a static target, so
the operator should ensure the video crosshairs are kept on the target; it doesn’t matter what mode
is used to do so. When it's running, the TLE will display a dot on the map for each sample it has
factored into its estimate. The estimated target location will show up on the map and in the
GeoPoints dialog as “TLE”. The TLE Start button will begin sampling target locations and adding
them to the estimate. Clicking it again will stop sampling. The TLE Clear button will clear all current
samples used in the estimate. Typically the filter will converge after a half to full orbit, running the
filter longer will not improve results.
WARNING: If the TLE feature is left on for too long, SkyLink may have performance issues and may
crash due to lack of memory.
