Note
The thermal energy of these 3 components is only fully
available gradually, meaning that the defrost process
can be aborted up to 8 times.
If the defrost process is aborted 9 times, there is
another cause. A message will be displayed.
Defrost conditions
If 1 of the following conditions applies, defrosting is
active:
■
The operating data is outside the performance map
in the control unit at certain positions.
■
The max. operating time of the heat pump between
2 defrost processes has been exceeded.
■
At very low outdoor temperatures: The evaporation
temperature falls below 0 °C for a certain time.
Defrosting is being prepared
The integral buffer cylinder must have the required
thermal energy and may have to be heated up first.
Determining the required defrost energy
Before the defrost process can start, the required
defrost energy is determined by the heat pump control
unit on the basis of the operating data and the heating
water volume that can be used for this purpose. The
required defrost energy results in the minimum return
temperature in the integral buffer cylinder and the
required duration for heating the integral buffer cylin-
der.
Since no temperature sensor is installed in the integral
buffer cylinder, the minimum return temperature is
determined indirectly via the return temperature sen-
sor.
