Starting engine
Procedures in cold weather
During the cold season or at temperatures below 0°C (+32 °F),
note the following points:
- Make sure that the freezing point of the coolant corresponds to
the weather conditions. See
Coolant
on page 174.
- Use recommended lubricating oil for winter use. See
Recom-
mended lubricants
on page 211.
- Fill the fuel tank after work has finished for the day, to counter-
act the formation of condensation water in the tank.
- When the engine has started, run it at low speed and light load-
ing until the oil in the engine, hydraulic system has warmed up
and become more fluid to provide proper lubrication.
IMPORTANT
When it is very cold (below -15 °C=+5 °F) the machine must
not be put to hard work immediately after the engine has
been started. Allow the engine to idle for 10-15 minutes.
NOTE:
Start with booster batteries. See
Starting with booster batter-
ies on page 157.
