SECTION 4 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
4.1 Sawing Problems
PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
Blades Dull Quickly Dirty logs Clean or debark logs, especially on
entry side of the cut.
When grinding, teeth heating too
much and causing teeth to soften.
Grind just enough metal to restore
sharpness to the teeth. Use water/cool-
ant while sharpening blade.
Poor sharpening techniques. Make sure the tip is being sharpened
completely (See Sharpener Manual).
Blades Break Prematurely Rubber belts on blade wheels worn
to a point that blade contacts metal
pulley - look for shiny spots on edge
of wheels.
Change blade wheel belts (B-57).
Poor sharpening techniques. See Sharpener Manual
Tension too tight. Tension blade to recommended
specifications.
Blade Does Not Track Right
On Wheels
Cant adjustment is incorrect. Readjust (See Section 3.4).
Flat/worn belts. Replace B-57 belts
Blade Guide Rollers Do Not
Spin While Cutting
Frozen bearings Replace bearings
Worn bearings Replace bearings
Drive Belts Wear Prematurely
or Jump
Engine/motor and drive pulleys out
of alignment
Align pulleys
