Shifting Gears
&WARNING
A
DO
NOT
shift
through
multiple
gears
with
a
single
turn
of
the gear
select
lever.
Allow
the engine speed
to
slow
down
before
shifting
to
the next lower
gear.
Improper
use
of
the gear select
lever
could
cause
transmission
damage
or
vehi-
cle
tip
over/roll
over
and result in
injury
or
death.
The transmission has four
(4)
gears that
can
be
used
for traveling
in
forward or reverse.
To
shift gears rotate the gear select lever to the next
gear while the vehicle
is
traveling.
• Use first gear (1) for highest torque and pulling
power.
• Use higher gears for higher ground speed.
• NEVER travel
in
fourth gear (4) when carrying a
load.
• Allow the engine speed
to
slow down before shift-
ing
to
a lower gear.
Warning Indicators and Gauges
ACAUTION
A
Check warning
indicators
and gauges
on the dash panel frequently
during
operation. If a warning
indicator
is
illuminated
or
a gauge
shows
abnor-
mal readings,
stop
the vehicle,
follow
proper
shut
down
procedures, tag the vehicle
with
"Do
Not
Operate" tags, and have a qualified
mechanic
service
or
repair the vehicle BEFORE
placing
it
into
service
again.
There are three
(3)
warning indicator lights
on
the
dash panel that illuminate during critical circum-
stances.
All
three
(3)
warning indicators demand
immediate attention and vehicle servicing.
In
many
cases the vehicle should be shut down
as
soon
as
practical to prevent serious mechanical failure.

Operation
The hydraulic oil temperature indicator illuminates
when the oil temperature is above 195°F (191°C).
Stop
and idle the engine. allowing time for cooling. If
the indicator does not go out after five (5) minutes,
shut the engine down.
Figure 7-17. Hydraulic Oil Temperalure Indicalor.
The low brake pressure indicator illuminates if the
hydraulic brake oil pressure gets
low.
If the low brake pressure indicator is illuminated,
stop the vehicle, follow proper shut down proce-
dures, tag the vehicle with "Do Not Operate" tags,
and have a qualified mechanic service or repair the
vehicle BEFORE placing it into service again.
