• After installing the piston ring, make sure it moves
easily and smoothly.

• Stagger the piston rings at 120° intervals, making
sure none of them line up on the piston.
• The oil control ring is equipped with a coil
expander.
• The coil expander joint (Figure 5-47, (2)) should
be opposite (staggered 180°) the oil ring gap
(Figure 5-47, (1)).
