Wastegate Actuator
1. Check the wastegate actuator for any evidence
of overheating, cracks or physical distortion. If
any damage is found, replace wastegate
actuator and turbine housing together as a unit.
2. Gradually apply a stream of low-pressure air to
the boost hose fitting and observe for
wastegate operation. If it fails to operate, hangs
up or does not operate in a smooth manner in
any way, replace wastegate and turbine
housing as a unit.
Seal Rings
Always use new seal rings when assembling a
turbocharger unit.
Bolts
Inspect all fasteners, bolts and other associated
hardware. Replace any damaged components.
ASSEMBLING THE
TURBOCHARGER
NOTICE: Always replace M3 and M4 TORX T
machine bolts when assembling a turbocharger
unit.
NOTICE: Always replace the following parts when
assembling an RHC7W turbocharger unit:
• Four compressor-side seal rings (small)
• Five compressor-side seal rings (large)
• Four M3 TORX T Machine Screws (3 ea.)
• Four M4 TORX T Machine Screws (4 ea.)
Installing the Floating Bearings
NOTICE: Install the rounded surface of the
retaining ring toward the bearing.
1. Install the inner retaining rings in the floating
bearing groove.
2. Coat the bearing with oil and place the
turbine-side floating bearing into the bearing
housing.

2 – Position the ring closest to the turbine side
as shown.
3 – Align at this point.
4 – Position all other rings as shown above.
