7.2 I Inspecng and cleaning the electrodes
The appliance is equipped with a smart polarity reversal system designed to prevent the electrode plates
from scaling. The polarity reversal duraon can be modied, see “5.2.13 Conguring the duraon of polarity
reversal”. However cleaning may be required in regions where the water is very hard.
Turn o the appliance and the ltraon system, close the isolaon valves, remove the protecon cover and
disconnect the cell power cable.
Unscrew the compression ring and remove the cell, see gure . The ring is crenelated thus allowing a
lever to be used in the event of it jamming. Submerge the part containing the electrode plates in a suitable
recipient containing the cleaning soluon.
Leave the cleaning soluon to dissolve the scale deposit for about 15 minutes. Dispose of the cleaning
soluon at an approved waste recycling site. Never pour into the rainwater drainage system or into the
sewers.
Rinse the electrode using clean water and put it back on the cell xture collar (there is a foolproong key
to ensure correct alignment).
Ret the ghtening ring, reconnect the cell cable and ret the protecve cover.
Re-open the isolaon valves and restart the ltering system and appliance.
If you are not using a commercially-available cleaning soluon, you can make your own by
carefully mixing 1 part hydrochloric acid with 9 parts water. (Cauon: always pour
the acid into the water and not the opposite and wear suitable protecve equipment!).
