CHAPTER 5
OPERATION
NOTE: Charge the instrument fully before use.
5.1 Measurement Procedure
• Starttheinstrumentbyturningtheswitchtothecorrespondingposition.
AllthesegmentsontheLCDscreenaredisplayed,thenthebattery
voltage.
• Connecttheleadstothe“+”and“-”leadstothemeasurementpoints.
• Thevoltageiscontinuouslymeasuredanddisplayedonthesmall
display.
• PresstheSTART/STOPbuttontostartthemeasurement.
• Press START/STOP again to stop the measurement. The last result
remains on the display until the next measurement is started, or the
selectorswitchisturned.
WARNING: If an external voltage is present that is greater than the thresholds
described in § 4.2, the instrument indicates this voltage on the small display, the
warning symbol flashes, and the measurement is stopped.
Note:Thereareseveralspecialfunctionsthatcanbeused(see§2.5).
5.2 Insulation Measurement
This function allows the instrument to measure insulation between 10kΩ and
10TΩatatestvoltageof500V,1000V,2500V,and5000Vorprogrammedvoltage
between40Vand5100V.
• Usetherotaryswitchtoselecttherequiredtestvoltage(MΩ-500V,or
MΩ-1000V,orMΩ-2500V,MΩ-5000V,orVar.MΩ-50-5000V).
• Connecttheinstrumenttotheinsulatortobetested.
• Start the measurement using the START/STOP button and read the
results.
WARNING: If an external voltage is present that is greater than the thresholds
described in § 4.2, then measurement is prohibited.
