2 Features and Functions
To  select  any stored state (0 through 4)  as the power–on default state, 
enter the STORE/RECALL level of the UTILITY MENU. Press   as needed to 
select PWR–ON, and press  . PWR–ON–AUTO will be displayed. Select ON 
(OFF is the default), and press  . PWR–ON STATE will be displayed, 
along with any stored states, on the second display line. along with any

a stored state, and press  .  CHANGE SAVED will be briefly displayed on 
the secondary display line.
• Remote Interface Operation:  Refer to the MEMory command subsystem in 
the  Agilent 34410A/34411A Programmer’s Reference for complete 
description and syntax for the commands which store, recall and name 
multimeter storage states.
Multimeter Reset
A fast system reset feature is provided. This function resets all multimeter 
settings to their factory settings, except if the power–on state has been 
manually set to a stored state (see explanation on page 52). The result is 
the same as cycling power to the unit with the front panel Power button 
(except for the Error Queue, which is not cleared with a fast system 
reset), but does so several seconds faster.
• Refer to “Power- On State” on page 49 for a complete listing of the 
settings affected by a (front panel or remote interface) reset command.
• Front Panel Operation: To reset the multimeter, press  . 
RESET DMM will be displayed, along with the options NO (default) and YES. 
Select  YES to enable the reset operation or NO to cancel it. 
• Remote Interface Operation: The following commands resets the multimeter 
to the instrument preset state:
SYSTem:PRESet
*RST
