Quadrupole Boards
The quadrupole boards are mounted on the side plates. They perform these
functions:
Provide the 1 MHz reference clock for the RF amplifier.
Generate the RF component of the voltage applied to the quadrupole mass
filters according to a signal from the main board. The amplitude of this
voltage is proportional to the mass selected.
Generate the DC component of the voltage applied to the quadrupole mass
filter. The magnitude of this voltage is proportional to the RF voltage.
Monitor for RF faults and shut down the analyzer if one is detected.
