Diagnosing Switch Indicators 
This switch can be easily monitored through panel indicators to identify problems. 
Table 13 describes common problems you may encounter and possible solutions. 
Table 13:  Troubleshooting
Symptom Possible Cause Action
Power LED is OFF Power outlet, power cord, or 
power module may be defective. 
Also, the switch may be in the 
OFF position.
•  If using a DC power supply module, check the 
connections between the switch and the 
external DC power supply. If using an AC 
power module, check connections between 
the switch, the power cord, and the wall 
outlet.
•  Contact your dealer for assistance.
Sys LED is Off  Boot-up diagnostic program has 
detected a problem.
•  Power cycle the switch to try and clear the 
condition. 
•  If the condition does not clear, contact your 
local dealer for assistance. 
Sys LED is Amber System has raised an alarm •  Take measures to clear the alarm. Example - if 
the temperature has exceeded the operating 
range threshold, power down the switch,until 
the temperature goes down.
Link LED is Off Network cable or Ethernet device 
attached to this port may be 
defective. 
•  Verify that the switch and attached device are 
powered on. 
•  Be sure the cable is plugged into both the 
switch and corresponding device. 
•  Verify that the proper cable type is used and 
its length does not exceed specified limits. 
•  Check the adapter on the attached device and 
cable connections for possible defects. 
Replace the defective adapter or cable if 
necessary.
