Chassis Ground Wiring
72 7705 SAR-A Chassis Installation Guide
Chassis Ground Wiring
To ensure that the equipment is connected to earth ground, use the following instructions to
prepare the ground wire and make the connection. The ground wire is not provided. The
length of the ground wire depends on the location of the router and proximity to the proper
grounding facilities.
Making the Ground Connection
Tools and hardware required:
• wire stripper
• wire cutter
• crimping tool
• torque driver for hex nut
• M4 ring lug
• minimum #18 AWG wire (green, or green/yellow)
Figure 14 illustrates how to prepare the ground wire. Table 15 describes the ground wire
components.
Caution: The 7705 SAR-A chassis ground stud located on the right-hand side mounting
bracket must be a permanent connection to the earth (building) ground point. Therefore, the
connection requires its own nut and washer.
Note:
• When wiring the unit, the chassis ground connection must always be made first and
disconnected last.
• All bare conductors must be coated with an appropriate antioxidant compound before
crimp connections are made. All unplated connectors, braided strap, and bus bars must
be brought to a bright finish and then coated with an antioxidant before connecting
them.
• All surfaces that are used for intentionally grounding the 7705 SAR-A must be brought
to a bright finish, and an antioxidant solution must be applied to the surfaces being
joined.
