Bare board cameras
If you intend to design an application using bare board cameras, please consider:
Alvium bare board cameras are not aligned. You must align these cameras into
housings individually, which is extremely difficult and expensive. As a possible
solution, Alvium Frame cameras provide alignment areas and holes to fit into
individual housings, see Alvium Frame - use your own optical mount on page
19.
Aligning the sensor to the lens is extremely difficult and expensive. Therefore,
we recommend you to do evaluation with housed cameras first.
Bare board cameras are specialized components. We cannot give all data
needed for any application in advance.
Please let us partner with you for bare board camera applications to ensure a
successful design.
CAUTION
Risk of burns
A camera in operation can reach temperature levels which could cause burns.
Wear protective gloves when you touch a camera that is heated up.
Ensure proper cooling of the camera.
NOTICE
Possible damage to the sensor
In Alvium USB cameras without a closed housing, sensors can be damaged by ESD.
In the output image, this may become visible as bubbles or blobs, for example.
For details, see the note in Possible damage to image sensors due to electrostatic
charge on page 60.
Provide ESD protection measures in accordance with technical standards.
Follow the instructions in ESD on page 56.
