Performance and troubleshooting
Radio signal interference
How can I avoid radio signal interference from wireless devices?
Ensure camera installation complies with Electromagnetic Compatibility.
Wireless devices and USB 3.0 or 3.1 Gen 1 commonly use 2.4 GHz frequency
(WLAN includes 2.4, 3.6, and 4.9 GHz).
Even USB 3.0 and 3.1 Gen 1 cables can interfere harmfully with other
electromagnetic devices. For example, despite shielding, a USB 3.0 or 3.1 Gen 1
cable can interfere with a wireless mouse. Tests have shown an increase of the
noise floor up to 20 dB for the affected devices.
To enable maximum bandwidth, 2.4 GHz radio frequencies must be avoided;
therefore, use maximum shielded cables only.
Keep maximum distance between your Alvium USB camera setup and
interfering devices.
Use high-gain antennas to reduce power of the radio signals.
