Troubleshooting
The charge light is o.
Make sure you plug the power and line cords in correctly and securely.
Unplug the electrical power. Wait for 15 seconds, then plug it back in. Allow
up to one minute for the cordless handset and telephone base
to reset.
Clean the cordless handset, charger’s charging contacts each month with a
pencil eraser or cloth.
The battery may not be connected to the handset or is missing completely.
Ensure that the battery is installed properly.
My caller ID isn’t working.
Caller ID is a subscription service. You must subscribe to this service from
your telephone service provider for this feature to work on your phone.
The caller may not be calling from an area that supports caller ID.
Both your telephone service provider and your caller’s telephone service
provider must use caller ID compatible equipment.
If you subscribe to high-speed Internet service (DSL - digital subscriber
line) through your telephone line, you must install a DSL lter between
the telephone line cord and the telephone wall jack (page 9). The lter
prevents noise and caller ID problems resulting from DSL interference.
Please contact your DSL service provider for more information about
DSL lters.
System does not receive caller ID when on a call.
Make sure you subscribe to caller ID with call waiting features from your
telephone service provider. The caller ID feature works only if both you
and the caller are in areas oering caller ID service, and if both telephone
service providers use compatible equipment.
System screens all my incoming calls.
You may have set Smart call blocker to screen calls without numbers
and uncategorized calls. The telephone asks callers to announce their
names or press the pound key (#). We recommend that you add the phone
numbers of your family members and friends, and desired businesses to
your Directory (see page 58) or Allow list (see page 85), or add their
names to the Star name list (see page 88). This will avoid Smart call
blocker to screen their calls.
To turn Smart call blocker o, see Set Smart call blocker on/o on page
80.
