STEP 7. BACKGROUND MEASUREMENT
Reliable background information is critical for good nuclide identification and alarm performance. The
software employs an advanced “NORM Rejection Algorithm” to reduce false alarms due to the fluctuations
in the naturally occurring background.
Appropriate background measurement and system calibration of the SAM 950 will ensure that the best
possible results are obtained.
1. Select ‘Setup’ menu.
2. Select ‘Background’ menu.
3. Measure background information.
