Ensure that no radiation sources are in the vicinity of the SAM 950 during the background
measurement.
The background spectrum (displayed in blue) is automatically updated during the measurement. The
criteria to determine the background acquisition time are defined in the ‘Setup’ menu.
STEP 7. ENERGY CALIBRATION
1. Select ‘Set up’ menu.
2. Place Cs-137 source front to the SAM 950.
3. Select ‘Calibration’ menu.

It is recommended that the total integrated counts in the background spectrum should be not less
than 100,000. The total count is defined in the ‘Setup’ menu.
