The mechanical construction of the
system shall be such that under the
influence of internally generated heat,
explosion or implosion, however caused,
no part shall cause injury to any person.

requirements of IEC60079 shall be met.

5.1 Speech intelligibility
Unless otherwise specified, the following
requirement shall be satisfied:
The speech intelligibility over all of an area
of coverage shall be greater than or equal
to 0,7 on the common intelligibility scale
(CIS). See annexes A and B for the
conversion between CIS and other scales
of intelligibility. The noise level (see B.5) at
the time of measurement (but in the
absence of the test signal) and the test
signal level shall be stated with the test
result.
NOTE - If the persons who are required to
understand the messages are, or will be,
reasonably familiar with them through
regular system tests, the effective
intelligibility tends to increase by
approximately 0,05 on the CIS if the
intelligibility is in the range 0,6 to 0,7. This
may apply, for example, in an office
building. However, in a sports ground, for
example, most of the messages are likely to
be relatively unfamiliar to the majority of
persons present, and no relaxation of the
above requirement should be considered.

the area of coverage, defined areas rarely
or never occupied by people.
