Item Designation Function
1
Compressed-air
connection or
connection for in-
ert gas bottle
For connection to compressed air in
workshops for general leakage tests
or to an inert gas such as nitrogen or
CO
2
for a evaporative emission con-
trol system test.
2 Battery connec-
tion cable 12V
(length: 2.5m)
Voltage supply for the SMT 300 via
the vehicle battery 12V.
3
Internal
filter drain
To protect the tester and the ve-
hicle from contaminated air in the
workshop.
Tab. 4: Overview of components and functions (rear view)
i Occasional draining of liquid from the internal filter
drain (item3) is normal. Excessive draining indicates
that the workshop's compressor must be drained
and/or that a separate filter system is needed.
! If the workshop's compressor is not kept dry, this
can result in contamination of the SMT 300 and the
vehicle to be tested.
4.6 Component description

UltraTraceUV®
smoke solution
The only non-contaminating smoke-gen-

the exact location of leakage. One bot-
tle (355mL) is sufficient for about 300
complete test cycles
Connector cap kit For sealing an intake control system in or-
der to retain smoke in the system, e.g.
mass air flow meter lines, for a correct leak
test.
Smoke diffusor For localizing leakage in the areas
around the doors, windows, sunroof
and luggage compartment.
