5. Initial commissioning
5.1 Transportation and installation
1. Remove the foam protection.
2. Carefully lift the SMT 300 and case out of the car-
ton.
3. Stand up the SMT 300 and case on a stable and
level worktable.
4. Remove the packaging material from the SMT 300.
5. Open the case and remove the packaging material
from the individual components.
i Retain the original packaging in case the SMT 300
must be returned for servicing.
5.2 Preparation
5.2.1 Filling the smoke solution
When working with UltraTraceUV®
smoke solution, always wear nitrile
rubber protective gloves and safety
goggles.
! Filling SMT 300 with a liquid that is not recommend-
ed by the manufacturer can result in damage to the
vehicles being tested and void the warranty of the
SMT 300.
Before using the unit for the first time, fill the entire
content of the bottle with the UltraTraceUV® smoke
solution into the SMT 300.
i Check regularly whether the fill level is near the
FULL mark. If this is not the case, add UltraTraceUV®
smoke solution.

5.2.2 Connecting the compressed air
i The supply pressure to the SMT 300 must be be-
tween 3.4bar and 12bar (50psi and 150psi). The
optimal supply pressure is 6.2bar (90psi).
Connect the compressed air.

! If the installed compressed-air connection does not
fit, use and install a suitable compressed-air connec-
tion:
1. Remove the existing compressed-air connection.
2. Apply Teflon® thread sealant to be threads.
3. Attach the suitable compressed-air connection and
tighten to a maximum of 25Nm.
