Layer 3 Upgrade Procedures
Overview
This appendix describes how to upgrade your device to run the full Layer 3 software code.

The procedures in this manual are for qualified service personnel.
Upgrade kit contents
Before beginning the upgrade, please verify the package contents. If any items are missing from
the kit, contact your place of purchase. The upgrade kit contains the following:
• Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection kit
• Upgrade instructions (this document)
• Dual Inline Package (DIP) key for upgrade (the chip that has eight pins). You should have one of
the part numbers listed in Table 40.
