46.Install dowel pins in gear case.
47.Carefully install the gear case cover. Take care to
line up the three brake springs and the brake
separator plate retaining shaft with the appropriate
holes in the cover. The motor pinion and
intermediate gear bearings have not yet been
installed.
48.Tighten down all the cover screw equally. Torque
to 30 ft-lb.
49.Put new O rings on and install four motor mounting
bolts. Tighten bolts in an “X” pattern and torque to
35 ft-lb.
50.Install the locknut on the brake adjusting rod end
that comes through the side cover.
51.Install three spring adjusting hollow hex key
screws. Tighten the screw until they just touch the
spring seats then 1/4 additional turn. Install
locknuts on screws.
52.Install the bearing for the intermediate gear into the
gear case cover.
The outer race must
NOT
be below the cover. It
may be flush with or above the cover.
53.Place shims around bearings so that shims are
flush with outer race.
54.Install bearing cover. Use Loctite 515 as a sealant
and put Loctite threadlock on the cover mounting
bolts.
55.Install the drive motor pinion bearing in the cover.
A. Make sure the motor shaft and gear are
concentric with the bearing mounting hole in
gear case cover.
B. To check for concentricity, use a telescoping
gauge and a micrometer to measure four

hole by bending drive motor shaft. This will
result in armature breakage.
