Bukh Interceptor System
The Bukh interceptor system is a trim system that
uses interceptors installed on the transom to act on a
boat's running characteristics and provide a safer,
more comfortable passage regardless of weather
conditions.
The IS system affects a boat's running characteristics
at speeds of ≈10 knots and above.
Each interceptor has a blade that extends by varying
amounts, depending on the preferred effect, and trims
the boat in three axes. The IS system is available in
two versions, manual and auto.
Manual means the helmsman controls the interceptor
blades using control buttons.
Auto means the system is pre-calibrated and
interceptor blade control is completely automatic to
provide optimum safety and comfort.
For further information refer to Operation, page 53:
A Trimming angle of attack (the angle between the
bow and the surface of the water). Improves the
helmsman's visibility to provide safer passage.
B Trimming roll angle when moving dead ahead.
Compensates boat
heel to improve comfort e.g.
when the boat is unevenly laden or in a side
wind.
C Trimming roll
angle in turns. Compensates boat
heel, improves the helmsman's all-round
visibility and provides for a more pleasant
passage.
