7.5 Entry into the mixing chamber
It is necessary to enter the mixing chamber to perform maintenance on the mixing auger cutting blades,
for instance.
Hazards to personnel due to crushing, shearing, cutting, severing, snagging,
winding, pulling, catching and impact can occur if raised and unsecured machine
parts descend or are lowered unintentionally - - for example, an open dosing valve
or accidental startup of the machine or the unintended powering of the dosing au-
ger.
Secure raised machine parts against unintended lowering prior to working in the vi-
cinity of the raised parts. Verify that the block ball valve is closed.
Secure the machine against accidental and unauthorized startup prior to entering
the dosing chamber (secure the main switch with a padlock).
Hazards to personnel due to falling off the machine can occur when they climb
over the upper edge of the mixing chamber to enter it!
In principle, it is necessary to climb through a delivery opening to enter the mixing cham-
ber.
Hazards to personnel due to slipping, stumbling or falling when they move around
within the mixing chamber can occur under when conditions are unsteady!
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment prior to entering the mixing cham-
ber.
Always maintain firm footing. Keep in mind that the footing surfaces on the mixing
auger are angled.
Cover the sharp edges of the cutting blades prior to moving around within the mix-
ing chamber.
Remove feed residue and moisture prior to moving around the mixing chamber.
